Keith Pope – President/COO

Keith Pope has twenty seven years of golf course management experience.  Keith has been involved with the successful management of numerous golf facilities nationwide, ranging from stand alone public golf courses to private clubs and major destination resort golf properties.  He has developed extensive skills and expertise in virtually all areas of golf course and club operations, as well as complete knowledge in the evaluation of all types of golf facilities and their respective golf markets.  He has also developed highly specialized skills and experience in successfully managing “turn around” and operationally distressed golf course properties.  This experience has lead to Keith being recognized as one of the premier golf facility improvement and turn around specialists in the golf industry.

Keith has worked extensively with two of the most prestigious golf course management companies in the golf industry.  Previously he had worked for Kitson & Partners Club Management as Director of Operations. Prior to that he spent eight years with Troon Golf managing some of the most prestigious clubs in the country such as Troon North in Scottsdale, AZ, The Waikoloa Beach Resort in Waikoloa, HI, The Westin La Paloma in Tucson, AZ and The Legacy Golf Club in Sarasota, FL.  The experience and expertise gained in these assignments ultimately lead to the establishment of Pope Golf and the successful contract and operational assumption of the company’s current golf course properties.  Keith is also a Licensed Florida Real Estate Broker and Licensed Private Pilot.

Mike Phelan – Vice President Management Operations

Mike Phelan’s professional career spans over thirty years and encompasses experience in virtually every     aspect of golf operations, management, development, and golf course evaluation.   His specific skill set  includes  the critically important functions of golf course agronomy and maintenance, marketing and business  development,  customer and community relations, and market area evaluation.  Mike has managed virtually    every type of golf course facility, developing multiple skills and expertise in operating and improving under-   performing properties.

He has extensive experience with municipal golf course facilities, and served as Vice President of Operations for the Phoenix Group, a company which offered turn key golf course management and development services exclusively to municipalities nationwide. Further, he has worked extensively with planners, architects, and developers in multi use golf projects and residential developments, as well as “stand alone” public golf course facilities.  Mike also brings to Pope Golf the invaluable experience and insight of owning and developing multiple successful  golf course properties throughout his career.

Denny Albert – Head Agronomist

Denny Albert has over twenty years experience as a golf course superintendent involved with all types of golf facilities from private club to public golf operations.  Denny has experience with all types of golf courses grasses from Bent grass to Bermuda grass. Denny spent the past fourteen years with Troon Golf overseeing the maintenance departments at Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton, FL and Sarasota National Golf Club in Venice, FL.  A member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America Association (GCSAA) , Mr. Albert’s professional education and networking with other superintendents provides an important asset in on-going golf course operation.
 

Jerry Moore – Director of Sales & Marketing

Jerry Moore also has over 25 years in the golf management industry, with executive management experience at several industry leaders such as ClubCorp, Doral Golf, United Golf Group, and The Fore Golf Group. He has personally overseen the operatiopn of over 70 properties during his career ranging from municipal golf courses, to high end daily fee public courses, to private country clubs and resorts. Jerry brings this wealth of experience to our team to focus on sales, marketing and revenue generation to help each of our facilties achieve complete success.

Pete Huber - Director of Golf Education

Pete Huber is a Master PGA Professional, and has worked with over 20,000 golfers in his 25+ year career. He has won multiple PGA Teacher of the Year Awards, and has worked with many of the best golf instructios in the world, including John Jacobs, Jim Hardy, Manuel de la Torre, Jim Flick, Davis Love, Jr., Chuck Cook, Paul Runyan, Bob Toski, and David Leadbetter. He is a Certified Master Clubfitter and has advanced certifications for The Golfing Machine, Mindful Golf, TrackMan, K-Vest, Plane Truth Golf, and the Titleist Performance Institute. Pete is also the author of  the paper, The New Ball Flight Laws. Also an accomplished player of the game, Pete has won over 50 professional events, competed on the PGA Tour, and has a low competitive round of 61.
